20 years of industry experience culminated in the creation of Maestro Broadcasting, in response to the fast-developing broadcast needs of arts organisations.


We are specialists in music, theatre and event broadcasting and we bring extensive knowledge, creativity, technical innovation and collaboration to every project. We work on both large and small scale broadcasts, matching editorial ambitions and budget to creative, affordable and practical broadcast solutions.


Gemma Dixon

GEMMA DIXON

Founder

Gemma Dixon is passionate about music and the performing arts and bringing performance to life on the screen. An accomplished singer and pianist, Gemma studied music at Royal Holloway, University of London, before beginning her career in Music Entertainment at the BBC.


At the BBC, Gemma worked in Drama, Events, Entertainment, Sport, News and Children's TV and trained in production management. She thrived on the variety of programmes and rounded experience it brought her.


She has gone on to have a successful freelance career in arts and events broadcasting working on live and pre-recorded shows from the UK's biggest performing arts venues, concert halls, theatres and opera houses.


Her experience includes live opera and ballet relays from the Royal Opera House and Glyndebourne; live theatre relays from the Globe and the RSC;  the BBC Proms; numerous concert recordings with top UK and European orchestras; Later with Jools Holland, Glastonbury Festival, NME Awards, Top of the Pops, Lip Sync Battle, the London Jazz Festival, Hans Zimmer Live on Tour; Ennio Morricone and the Hateful Eight recording; Sony Playstation Concert from the RAH and live-streams with UK and internationally renowned solo artists.


Gemma has also enjoyed working on large-scale events broadcasts including BBC Royal events coverage from St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey, HMQ's funeral coverage from the Palace of Westminster, NYE Fireworks and Festival of Remembrance.

Delivering excellence

As a Line Producer and Production Executive Gemma is adept at managing large scale and ambitious projects as well as small budget and tight turnaround programmes, both live and pre-recorded.  She thrives on assembling and managing world class broadcast teams and bringing creative and editorial briefs to life on screen, matching affordable solutions to editorial ambitions.  She manages the production process from beginning to end with clarity, attention to detail and clear communication, ensuring that projects are delivered at the highest possible quality

Her rich and varied experience at every level and in many genres of television production gave Gemma a unique background from which to launch her own production company. Gemma founded Maestro Broadcasting to support the arts through a changing climate and increased digital and broadcast needs.  She is excited to take responsibility for delivering a vast array of musical and theatrical experiences to diverse audiences on a global level

Behind the scenes

As well as thriving on a busy and varied professional life, Gemma plays the piano and sings in a chamber choir. She spends much time attending concertsn and musical theatre shows, visiting art galleries, dancing and performing - she feels most at home in a theatre or concert hall. She’s also passionate about using the power of music to help people living with dementia and has run her own ‘Music for Memory’ choir in her local area.
